profile
Sunshine Bay Artist Sheryl Miller grew up in the small country town of The Rock NSW. She lived in Wagga with her husband & their family & later moved to Merimbula, Bega, Gymea & finally Batemans Bay.
Sheryl's original interest was in oils in the 1980's but as with all true artists she experimented with other media. Sheryl studied & taught Porcelain Art for a few years and later completed a 3 year diploma course in Pottery at Gymea TAFE.
Sheryl is predominantly a self-taught Artist & is totally committed to her art. She has a passion for the beauty of flowers, from the exhuberant & extravagant to the quiet & subtle. She is best known for her transparent watercolours in which she explores the nature & character of each flower & its relation to its setting. For her, art is a constant thrill & adventure & she loves the risk of watercolour
Although flowers are Sheryl's main passion she enjoys a wide variety of subjects. Inspiration comes from her local seaside surroundings and her travels throughout Australia & overseas. She attributes her talent, inspiration & love of nature to her mother & grandmother, both Artists.
As well as Watercolour, Sheryl's work includes Acrylic, Pen & Ink and Pastel. She participates in regular group exhibitions and her paintings have been acquired for Australian & overseas collections.
Sheryl is a long time member of Batemans Bay Arts and Crafts Soc. and South Coast Pastel Society. She is regularly called upon to judge Porcelain Art and was part owner of TOSH Gallery & Café before it closed in 2010 02 44722909.
